Via Inside Self Storage:

OpenTech Alliance Inc., developer of the INSOMNIAC line of self-storage kiosks and INSOMNIAC Live! call-center services, is launching its new ISeries kiosk-management services, including IReplay, IMobile, and IRemote. The new services will allow self-storage operators to manage their businesses from anywhere they have Internet or cellular service. They will be available to all OpenTech customers on the Maintenance and Warranty Services program at no additional charge.

IReplay allows self-storage operators to see and hear the interaction and experience their customers have when renting a unit. When a customer uses the kiosk, their entire transaction is recorded and stored for review. The kiosk records the screens as well as the customer and compiles it with the information entered. The IReplay of the transaction is accessed through the online reporting system and can be shared with others via e-mail.

IRemote allows self-storage operators to help a customer while he is standing at the kiosk. Customers sometimes get stuck during a transaction (typically trying to login to make a payment). IRemote gives operators the ability to see the transaction and where the customer is having difficulty. Operators are able to take control of the kiosk and enter the needed data, adding a new dimension to customer service.

IMobile allows facility operators to use their phone to manage their business. They can view kiosk-transaction reports (including IReplays on phones that support Flash), see when new units are rented or payments are made, change settings, contact technical support, and even control the kiosk in real-time using IRemote.

OpenTech’s products and services include seven INSOMNIAC kiosk models ranging in price from $4,900 to $18,000, INSOMNIAC Live! call-center services, and the INSOMNIAC Self Storage Network for online storage reservations.

What a weird story. Guess he has too much to think about and forgot to pay his bill. Would be interesting to see what he was storing.

Via College News:

On Thursday, a storage and moving company decided to auction off former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. According to the New York Times, he failed to make the necessary monthly payments on his storage units and all personal items from campaign material to old videotapes were sold to the highest bidder.

Boyer-Rosene Moving and Storage said that Blagojevich owed thousands of dollars for storing seven wooden crates since 2002. The company has also reached out to Blagojevich and his lawyers, but never got an answer, the Times said. Proceeds from this auction will go to the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

As like other events involving Blagojevich, including this week’s trials, the auction was a spectacle and was also a roast of the ousted governor. To begin the auction, two Elvis impersonators sang on stage as a tribute to Blago’s favorite singer. Attendees then sifted through boxes of belongings, like personal photos, videotapes, campaign buttons. According to the AP, the most lucrative items were a neon “Governor Blagojevich” sign, a plaque honoring the former governor for political leadership (sold for $120), and a life-sized Elvis Presley statue, which sold for $20,000.

At one point, someone in the crowed yelled “Unread!” as the auctioneer displayed a set of law books. Everything was sold, even a personal planner from 1991. There was also an inflatable balloon house present, the AP reported.

Steve Huisel, 25, a Motorola employee, said, “The videotapes are too much. We shouldn’t be looking at his family’s business.” But he did buy a framed photo of Blagojevich and a group of kids for $75.

“I think it will be funny to have in my home right in my living room,” he said to the Times. “I am going to laugh every time I see it.”

Blagojevich was convicted of lying to the FBI this week, while his other charges were dropped and declared as a mistrial.

Mesa, AZ is located in sunny Arizona, a wonderful state. It’s forever summertime there. As Mesa is considered by most as a community-centric city, they’ve got people moving in each year. Mesa residents place importance on looking after one another. They strive to provide their family quality education, keep everyone hydrated, and spread the word about being green. Immense emphasis is placed on going green. If you plan on moving to Mesa, Arizona, or if you live in the city, you may need self storage in Mesa, Arizona. In this city you’ll obtain backing for the choice to go green. This means you’ll have to store away your electronic devices and any other objects that squanders electrical energy within a secure self storage facility.

It actually isn’t exceedingly difficult to store away electronic devices. It simply involves a little common sense. If you aren’t able to dispose of your electronic devices, or you need to recycle them but need to wait, self storage in Mesa is able to be of assistance. Simply rent a space sufficiently big to store away your belongings until such a moment arrives where you’ll be relieved of them. If you’ll want to self store a refrigerator, make sure you keep your door ajar some so that air can move about inside of it. Doing this prevents mold from growing due to the wet atmosphere that the cold temperature inside of the refrigerator makes. Do not deposit groceries or anything within the fridge. Ensure that it is totally dirt free and cleared out prior to putting it inside your storage unit. The same information can be used for your freezers.

Loads of families these days have at the least one computer. Can you safely keep it in self storage in Mesa, AZ? Of course it is possible to! For people with the initial packaging, it is easy to return it there, and store it someplace it will not get damaged. Conversely, in the event you don’t, you may still pack it up safe and sound. Bubble wrap can be utilized to keep your components safe. Use as much as you think is necessary, but a mere three layers will do the technique. Fasten up the bubble wrap before you move the pc to storage. Ensure that whenever you put these items within a storage unit, you keep them from places they could drop or become destroyed if anything falls on top of them.

A corner is frequently a great point to start. Afterwards, wrap it inside a blanket just to be on the protected side. Do not put anything on top of the electronics, in case you have to contact them later on. This additionally applies for any other, less significant electronics you’re self storing, including mp3 players, toasters, or microwaves. Carry out your share to protect your items and self storage in Mesa will appear to be a large amount less of a trouble.

Being the sixth largest municipality in the valley of the sun, Scottsdale has a sizable population to sustain. It’s bordered by the city of phoenix along with a large mountain range. It’s also a western city, and takes quite a bit of pride in its Western history. The product is a city that’s sparkling with tradition, energy, and tourism. It is no question then that mini storage in Scottsdale, AZ is readily to be had. These businesses prop up the influx of new residents by providing storage in each vacant dimension. If you end up moving to the charming town of Scottsdale, or remaining for some months or so, you may need mini storage in Scottsdale. Here are a few nuggets of advice for your rental needs.

The Scottsdale areais contained within a very arid climate. Your self storage space must be constructed to accommodate this. Be sure that it is well ventilated or at least insulated. If it is not, be sure that your belongings are able to survive mini storage in Scottsdale. Carry out anything you can that will keep the heat from coming in. This is very true if you plan on self storing old photographs or anything that you determine is old and dear to you. The rest of your stuff could be safe if you simply take the time to do a little proper packaging. Bubble wrap is relatively economical and can shield everything from pictures albums to plates, antiques and also Discs and DVD movies. This stops belongings from breaking or getting dented when they’re being moved around.

Make sure to use the same size containers for anything. When you utilize uniform boxes you save money, space, and time. Choosing the identical size for each one of your bins means that you and others storing with you do not have to squander money purchasing bigger or smaller boxes. This is particularly important if you are only guessing how many moving boxes you require. Remember, bins generally can’t be returned for refunds. If all your boxes are the identical size you won’t have hassle with mini storage in Scottsdale. You can pile the boxes each as far above the ground as you need them to go. It’s no dissimilar than piling up blocks.

Take further safety precautions with public storage units. Scottsdale has vacationers year round. While there’s safety solutions on site at every single mini storage in Scottsdale facilities, it’s important that you simply do your part to verify nothing happens to your belongings. Be sure to keep your costly things in the back, away from the door. While purchasing a security device, ensure that it’s of high quality. Quality locks usually are not easily shattered. It could be rather high-priced, but the safety of your assets is incalculable.

A New London businessman is building a new self-storage facility on Bank Street that will feature more than 300 units.

Len Goldstein, who is the proprietor of Sign-A-Rama on Bank Street in New London, said construction has already begun on the facility at 960 Bank St., directly behind his current business and across from the local Coca-Cola distribution center.

The new facility will be called New London Self Storage and is independently owned and operated, said Goldstein, who has owned Sign-A-Rama for the past six years. Goldstein is also the former owner of the popular Goldy’s restaurant that was located on Colman Street in New London.

Once completed, the self-storage complex will include climate-controlled units, keypad entry, a security gate and perimeter fencing and video surveillance. The business also expects to offer climate-controlled automobile bays that could be used to store classic-era automobiles.

Buying up two great properties with more in the pipeline. I’m impressed by the speed that he is taking in recreating his self storage empire.

By Daniel Duggan at Crain’s Detroit Business:

A Cleveland-based self-storage investment company has picked Detroit as a market for expansion and kicked-off the decision with the acquisition of two properties.

The Amsdell Cos. purchased self storage properties in Rochester Hills and Novi, adding to a portfolio of 10 properties.

President and CEO Todd Amsdell said the Detroit market for self-storage property ownership is spread among a large group of owners, representing a good environment for growing his portfolio to consolidating properties among one owner.

“Detroit is one of the markets that we targeted as a good opportunity to expand,” he said. “We like what Detroit has to offer, plus it’s a fragmented market.”

He expects to acquire 3 to 5 more stores by this time next year, he said. The properties were acquired under Amsdell Cos. subsidiaries Amsdell Storage Ventures I LLC and Compass Self Storage LLC.

Amsdell has experience in Southeast Michigan. Prior to going public in 2004, his family owned U-Store-It, which grew to 211 stores, including one in Ecorse. Amsdell left the company and started his own firm after his father retired.

“I’m happy to be back, investing in the Detroit area,” he said.

The properties purchased are at 160 W. Avon Rd. in Rochester Hills and 40900 Grand River in Novi and represent a combined 134,000 square feet. The seller, MW Tolero Holding Corp. is a Delaware-based holding company comprised of investors from New York, Chicago, Columbus and Phoenix.

The properties sold for a combined purchase price of $6.5 million. Steve Hryszko, a vice president in the Cleveland office of CB Richard Ellis was the broker in the deal.

There are a lot of locations in that area and lots of specials and deals to sort through. But in all my years, I have not found a better facility than the Storage West on Princess View in San Diego. Here’s some information about this mini storage business:

Your San Diego storage rental is strictly month-to-month, no long leases needed. Your storage space rental starts on the day you move in, i.e. you move in on the 15th, your next month’s space rental is due on the 15th. There is a one-time administration fee of only $15. No deposits are required. You may provide your own disc type lock or purchase one from us for only about $10. This is just another way of providing protection for our tenants.

Our storage facility gate is secured with a computerized access panel, which accepts your personalized security code. Once inside our Princess View storage facility only you can access your storage unit because only you have the key to your personal storage space.

Here’s how you get to the facility from the I-15:

Take I-15 south and exit off on Friar’s Road. At the set of lights, make a left and stay on Mission Gorge Rd. until you see a Jack in the Box, and 7-11 Store. At the light, make a right at Princess View Dr. Facility is located on the right hand side as you go up the hill on Princess View Dr.

One guide that I really like is the one that Storage West provides. They are a regional storage company that is based exclusively in Arizona, California, and Nevada. They’ve been around since the 70s and have a very strong presence in those regions.

For example:

10×20 Storage Unit is equal to:

The size of a small single car garage

(08′-10′ Ceilings) 1600-2000 CU. FT.

Furnishings from a small home with appliances

One Average Trailer and Boxes

There are also pictures along with the information.

Great resource for sure.
